Terms of Service

Draft — this text is a working prototype and has not been reviewed by a lawyer yet. Bracketed items are still to be completed.
Wikizz is a free online trading card game in which every English Wikipedia article is a collectible card. It is published by [Operator name & address — TBD]. These terms govern your use of wikizz.io and of the game: by creating an account or playing, you accept them.
01The service
Wikizz lets you open card packs, build a collection, grade, trade and sell cards with other players, join guilds and climb leaderboards. The game is free to play.
The service is still evolving: features, rules and balance numbers (drop rates, prices, timers) may change at any time to keep the game fair and fun.
02Your account
- You must be at least 15 years old, or have the permission of a parent or legal guardian.
- One account per person. Your account is personal: do not share, sell or lend it.
- Give a valid email address and keep your password secret; you are responsible for what happens on your account.
- Your display name must not impersonate anyone, nor be offensive, hateful or sexually explicit. We may rename an account that breaks this rule.
03Cards, packs and Wikoins
Cards, packs, grades and the in-game currency (Wikoins) are virtual items. They have no monetary value, cannot be converted into money or anything outside the game, and are not your property: we grant you a personal, non-transferable and revocable right to use them inside Wikizz.
Selling, buying or trading accounts, cards or Wikoins for real money or any off-game consideration is forbidden.
Packs contain random cards; drop rates are part of the game rules and may be adjusted. We may correct balances, items or trades created by a bug or an exploit.
04Fair play
You agree not to:
- use bots, scripts, macros or any automation to play, open packs, snipe the market or trade;
- run several accounts, or funnel cards and Wikoins between accounts;
- exploit bugs instead of reporting them;
- manipulate the market (wash trading, price fixing, collusion);
- attack, overload or try to access the service or other players’ accounts without authorization.
To protect the game we use automatic safeguards (rate limits, human verification, anti-cheat checks). Breaking these rules can lead to a temporary activity block, the removal of ill-gotten items, or the closing of the account.
05Community and content you post
Guild chat, display names, guild names and card reports are visible to other players. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, spam, personal data of others, or illegal content.
You keep the rights to what you write, and allow us to host and display it for the game. We may moderate or remove content and act against accounts that break these rules. You can report a problem to [contact address — TBD].
06Wikipedia content
Card texts come from English Wikipedia articles, available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 licence; card images are loaded from Wikimedia Commons under their own licences. Card rarity is computed automatically from public data about each article, such as its readership.
Wikizz is an independent project, neither affiliated with nor endorsed by the Wikimedia Foundation. Since cards mirror the encyclopedia, some may deal with sensitive subjects; such cards are blurred by default and you can change this in your settings.
07Availability
We do our best to keep Wikizz online and your collection safe, but the service is provided “as is”, without any guarantee of uninterrupted availability. We may interrupt it for maintenance, change it, or close it; in the latter case we will give reasonable notice on the site.
08Suspension and closing
You can stop playing at any time and ask for your account to be deleted by writing to [contact address — TBD].
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. Unless the urgency or seriousness of the situation prevents it, we will tell you why. Closing an account removes access to its virtual items, without compensation since they have no monetary value.
09Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damage, for the loss of virtual items caused by events beyond our reasonable control, or for content published by other players. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under the law that applies to you.
10Changes and applicable law
We may update these terms; important changes will be announced in the game before they apply. If you keep playing afterwards, you accept the new version.
These terms are governed by French law. Before going to court, please contact us at [contact address — TBD] so we can try to settle the issue amicably; you can also turn to a consumer mediator.
